50 years of music history in your studio
The WA-251 was developed and created to offer the design of a classic "vintage" microphone to a new generation of sound artists and engineers at an affordable price. It is a lamp condenser microphone, equipped with a large diaphragm and balanced by an output transformer, with several directities. Based on the famous '251 that was used on many successful discs over the last 50 years and still present in the studios today, its scarcity and fatally its cost have now risen considerably.
Warm Audio teams have studied and listened to several types of '251 originals, to determine what users liked in its design and rendering, to make the most of the different models. Equipped with a CK12 capsule, the WA-251 is suitable for many applications such as: studio pro, home-studio, live and broadcast, and will naturally transcribe the sound of your voice, but will also be an ideal choice to capture acoustic or electric guitars, percussive instruments, piano, strings, coppers, wood, and a range of other sources.
The embedded components significantly represent Warm Audio's ambition to get close to the desired character: the WA-12-B-60V capsule in 24-carat gold sprayed brass reproduces the sound richness of the original CK12 capsule, while the Cinemag USA output transformer helps to capture the presence of the acutes and the depth of the severe.
