The USB 3.0 Digiface Dante nomad interface opens the transmission of 64 Dante channels and 64 MADI channels via a simple USB connection 3.0. With this new Digiface Dante, RME extended the Digiface range with this powerful Dante model that works both in USB and in standalone.
The Audio-sur-IP Dante protocol was developed by the Australian Audinate company and allows the transmission of audio-digital signals without compression over long distances with low latency. To accompany the growing popularity and diffusion of Dante solutions in the professional audio market, RME has chosen to develop the Dante Digiface, a compact USB 3.0 interface that brings mobility and flexibility to traditional Dante interfaces in PCIe format. And to power the Dante Digiface, users have the choice between an external power supply or via the USB bus.
Thanks to the integration of the MADI (Mac/PC) drivers of the famous interfaces RME from the MADIface series, Digiface Dante also allows users to transfer 64 MADI channels via USB 3.0 in addition to 64 Dante channels. To do this, the two BNC connectors reserved for the word clock can switch to MADI input and output. All of the 128 Dante and MADI channels are controlled via the included Dante control software as well as by TotalMix FX, the mixer based on DSP of RME which allows many routing and monitoring options. Thus, TotalMix FX allows users to create independent submix operating all available entries.
The Digiface Dante has two double network connectors, redundant, with multiple functions: they can be used as inputs or outputs, such as network switch or redundancy operations with a primary network and a secondary network to meet security requests. To complete the whole, the interface can also be used as a Dante/MADI mobile converter when the USB connection is not used.
In addition to the USB 3.0 port, Dante network ports, word clock inputs/outputs and connection for external power, the Digiface Dante also has a very high quality headphone output that can be used as a line output to send stereo mix in analog.
